چکیده

A t − (n, k, ) design is a k-uniform hypergraph with the property that every set of t vertices is contained in exactly of the edges (blocks). A partial t − (n, k, ) design is a k-uniform hypergraph with the property that every set of t vertices is contained in at most edges; or equivalently the intersection of every set of + 1 blocks contains fewer than t elements. Let us denote by f (n, k, t) the maximum size of a partial t− (n, k, ) design. We determine f (n, k, t) as a fundamental problem in design theory and in coding theory. In this paper we provide some new bounds for f (n, k, t). © 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Effect of large blocks position on stability analysis of block-in-matrix slopes

Bimrocks are complex geomaterials that are defined as mixtures of rocks composed of geotechnically significant blocks within a matrix of finer texture. Bimslopes are made from bimrocks and are usually seen in weathered and shallow environments. Some characteristics of blocks affecting the strength of bimrocks include VBP (Volumetric Block Proportion), orientation, and arrangement, which have im...

Note on the parameters of balanced designs

In discussing block designs we use the usual notations and terminology of the combinatorialliterature (see, for example, [1], [2]) "balance" will always mean pairwise balance and blocks do not contain repeated elements. It is well-known that a balanced design need not have constant block-size or constant replication number. However, it is easy to show ([2, p.22J). that in any balanced design wi...

A-efficient balanced treatment incomplete block designs

The purpose of this paper is to present a large number of highly A-efficient incomplete block designs for making comparisons among a set of test treatments and a control treatment. These designs are BTIB designs. A simple method of construction of BTIB designs, based on BIB designs is proposed. The advantage of this method is that one can use the vast literature on BIB designs to obtain a large...

New Stilling Basins Designs for Deep Rectangular Outlets

The experimental study reported here is intended to evolve new designs of stilling basins for deep and narrow openings used as outlets. Several appurtenances such as grid, Impact wall, stepped wall, weir wall, sloping end sill and wedge shaped blocks are used to study their influence on the hydraulic performance of the stilling basins with an aim to propose efficient stilling basin models. All ...

A New Algorithm for Determining Ultimate Pit Limits Based on Network Optimization

One of the main concerns of the mining industry is to determine ultimate pit limits. Final pit is a collection of blocks, which can be removed with maximum profit while following restrictions on the slope of the mine’s walls. The size, location and final shape of an open-pit are very important in designing the location of waste dumps, stockpiles, processing plants, access roads and other surfac...
